Jennifer Sutherland

I am 35 years old and the Head Coach of the Clinton County, Ohio YMCA Twisters Gymnastics Team. I also coach the Wilmington High School Gymnastics Team. I coach Levels 4-10. The girls range in age from 7-18.

All of my designs are hand drawn from actual photographs. I do not use a computer program to make the graphs. That picks up too much background (stands, crowds, odd lighting etc) and is distracting from the over-all design.

Both of these charts have also been sewn by my friend in Michigan. She gave the finished needlework of the younger Nadia on the beam to another friend who actually showed it to Nadia Comaneci at a competition!!

My latest work is of Svetlana Khorkina in her Markelov on bars. She is wearing the orange shimmery leotard from '98 Worlds. I did some experimenting and found some great metallic threads that make it look very realistic. This will come in handy since so many of the girls are wearing metallic leotards now.

These designs are most effective on black or dark backgrounds. Then they look more like photographs. I would like to try to do one on the back of a denim jacket or a tote bag.
